This information provides guidance for individuals who need to complete a 12-hour DUI education class but their case is not monitored by an IDRC. The Gloucester County IDRC provides the online class to those located in various states and countries. Here’s a summary of the key points:
For Non-New Jersey Residents with a New Jersey DUI:
- Gloucester County IDRC provides the online class to those under IDP Out of State Unit.
- If you reside more than 50 miles from New Jersey and have a DUI in NJ, you are likely under the IDP Out of State Unit.
- After completing the class, the education verification form will be submitted to the IDP Out of State Unit on your behalf.
- The packet you likely received in the mail includes the necessary forms (packet available for download below). The course provider will complete page 4: DUI Education Certificate of Completion.
- The full packet can be found below to download. It can also be found on IDP's website: https://www.nj.gov/humanservices/dmhas/resources/services/treatment/addictions/OutofState_Requirements_Packet.pdf
For DUI Convictions in Other States:
- If you were convicted of a DUI in a state other than New Jersey but need the 12-hour class for DUI convictions, you are welcome to take our class.
- Contact the office with your specific needs as some states may have their own forms that need to be completed.
- If no specific form is required by the state where the DUI occurred, you will be provided with an Education Verification Certificate similar to the one available on page 4 (located in the Out of State packet below).
What to Expect:
- Class Scheduling:
- After purchasing a class, you will receive a schedule letter via email.
- Classes are held the first or second weekend of each month via Zoom, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM Eastern Time.
- You can request a later date if needed.
- Class Preparation:
- You may see information about a screening form sent the week of the class; that does not apply to you.
- The Zoom link for the class will be emailed the day before the class (by noon on the preceding Friday).
- Post-Class Completion:
- The Education Certificate of Completion will be submitted to the NJ IDP Out of State Unit if applicable. You will also receive a copy.
- For NJ residents with an out-of-state DUI, the verification will be emailed to you directly.
- Additional Assistance:
- If you need a substance use assessment, resources can be provided.
- Every case is different. The Gloucester County IDRC Director began working for IDRC in 2010 and has assisted in many cases over the years. If we are unable to assist you, we will be able to direct you to the provider that can.
For any questions or special circumstances, you are encouraged to contact us directly. We are happy to help!
